Believe it or not, even Mark Zuckerberg’s sister, Randi, became a victim of indecent digital manners. After posting a photo of her family on her Facebook account, later she found out that her picture was posted on Twitter.
Let me guess, you were once a victim too. Randi was just one of the millions of social media users who do not know the meaning of ‘digital etiquette‘. She added on one of her tweets that it’s not just about privacy, rather it all boils down to decency.
This holiday season, although there will be parties here and there, let us not forget that the rules will still remain. This doesn’t mean you can just post all you want and share whenever you like. Before doing so, think on these do’s and don’ts in the social media community. So, the next time you or a friend enters to a party, no one will be embarrassed.

Keep in mind that the purpose having a social media account is to create a connection. With the advent of the internet and social media, friends and loved ones communicate and keep everyone updated through their Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts. They may be miles away, but social network sites have their own way of building bridges to fill the gap. Yes, it is a great way to share your photos and send your greetings. While you’re at it, you have to take note of the following:
DO: Know what you post.
In other words, you can’t just post any family picture or any party photos to your account. There are things you couldn’t stop. There are those who can’t help themselves, but take pictures of their friends and even relatives and share it to their own page WITHOUT your permission. These things couldn’t happen when you watch what you post.
DON’T: Post picture or status updates of your friends without their permission.
So, we’re finally here. If there’s one thing that you need to take note of and never ever forget, this is it. Of course, you wouldn’t want the same thing to happen to you. Be sure to ask permission if you wouldn’t want any trouble to happen in the coming days. Moreover, just because your co-worker’s photo gained a gazillion likes doesn’t mean it’s a good photo to share to your page as well.
DO: Tag with consideration.
Yes, it could be your best picture, but it doesn’t mean you can freely tag your friends. Your boss wouldn’t want to see his evil grin, nor your office mate wouldn’t want to see his rooster hair on your photo. Unless you managed to crop yourself and untag your friends on your cover image or profile picture can make sense.
DON’T: Just post ANY tweet.
As a matter of fact, think before you hit the post button. Be careful what you tweet. You might just one day hurt a friend or a loved one.
