Everybody wants to have good health. But it is not advisable to praise your health because you don’t know what tomorrow may bring. The most important thing is to commit your life to God and avoid things that can put your health at risk. Things like overeating, drinking too much alcohol, smoking and engaging in immoral activities will definitely have a negative impact on your health.

In fact, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. You should therefore not take your present good health condition for granted. These are the basic tips towards living a healthy life.
#1. Take Plenty of Water
Some people wait until they feel thirsty to take water. This is wrong. By the time you become thirsty, your body is already dehydrated. This can be avoided by making sure that you take 8 glasses of water per day. Water helps in many metabolic functions such as excretion of wastes, transportation of food and more.
In fact, it is estimated that 60% of the body is water. This means that water is part and parcel of our bodies. We continually lose water through perspiration, excretion, breathing and other processes. This lost water must be replenished in order to stay healthy. For this reason, need to take 6-8 glasses of water every day. This will make you live a healthy life.
#2. Get Adequate Sleep
Sleep is very important. But this does not mean that you should oversleep and fail to work. Sleeping too much can make one become poor. Whether you are a workaholic or an ordinary worker, make sure that you set enough time for sleep.
It is recommended to sleep at least 6 hours in a day. Sleeping will prevent you from overeating. People who stay awake from time to time tend to eat more than those that get enough time to sleep. Besides, lack of sleep contributes to premature aging. You definitely don’t want this to happen to you. Know that if it is time to sleep, go to bed and have rest. Your health will improve.
Meditation is important. It helps to relax your mind and relieve it from daily stresses of life. It also helps to calm your soul. The overall effect is the reduction of stress. This prevents you from getting depression.
#4. Exercise Regularly
It has been proven that exercise has many health benefits. If you want to prevent lifestyle diseases like diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure, you should do exercise. Practice regularly throughout your life and not just one day. Exercise enables you to achieve high bone density besides helping you to lose weight. You should, therefore, go to the gym and do some exercises.
If you do not have time for the gym, you can do some walking along the streets. Don’t drive all the time. Learn to walk or run over short distances. In your office, you may choose to walk on stairs instead of using a lift. You can also join aerobic classes, this will not only make you healthy but also achieve desired body fitness.
#5. Eat More Fruits
You are advised to eat as many fruits as you can. Some people tend to concentrate on proteins, carbohydrates, fats and forget about fruits which contain a lot of vitamins. Fruits such as oranges and lemons contain vitamin C which is an important antioxidant. Anti-oxidants protect the body from the negative effects of oxygen free radicles. In this way, your body is protected and you will not easily contract diseases like cancer.
Other fruits that you are advised to eat in sufficient quantities include watermelon, avocado, paw paw, mango and more. Avocado is good for the health of your heart. It also improves the health of your skin. If you want to have a youthful appearance, take enough avocados.
#6. Eat Enough Vegetables
Vegetables are an essential source of vitamins. It is recommended to take at least 5 servings of vegetables every day. But many people don’t do this. Some of the best vegetables that you should take are kales, cabbage, carrots, broccoli and more.
#7. Eat Brightly Colored Fruits
You may be wondering why you should be eating brightly colored fruits. The answer is simple. Research has shown that such fruits are rich in antioxidants which help to fight against oxygen free radicals which cause damage to body cells. They include guava, orange, pineapple, blackberry, cucumber and more.
#8. Walk Barefoot
This may sound awkward but is important if you want to have good health. It reduces stress on your feet and joints. It also improves your body posture.
#9. Avoid Negative People
This is good for your mental health. Try to avoid friends who discourage you. Let them go for the sake of your mental health.
