Difference Between Facts and Shower Thoughts

We sometimes view factual evidence through the prism of our beliefs, emotions, tastes, and past experiences while forming personal convictions. Therefore, most claims we make are assertions of fact in speaking and writing.

A fact is an observation of a natural or social phenomenon. We may see it directly and display it to others. Facts are statements that happen or have happened in certain cases or situations.

Whatever test of reason and reasoning is added to or refused, facts are observable (measurable), verifiable, and undiscussable. If one may conclude that measuring instruments or documents or memories are right, the essence of the facts is beyond debate. Facts provide the statement of a claim with vital support.

However, there are facts used in a different approach, just like the fun fact we usually use to break the ice, create conversation, and impress others.

It is a tidbit of interesting or amusing random facts or trivia. People sometimes add a fun fact with the word itself, often in the form of humorous and biting remarks, because otherwise, how would you know it was a fun fact?

But what are some of the interesting, fun facts? Below are some of the examples:

1. Pringles aren’t potato chips.

You will not see the word “chip” anywhere on the package the next time you see a can of Pringles. Pringles are not made of thinly-sliced potatoes but are pressed into their characteristic parabolic form instead of dehydrated potato flakes. That is what makes it less greasy for them. But the Food and Drug Administration ruled that Pringles should not be sold as chips after other potato chip makers objected. Eventually, the business decided on ‘potato crisp.’

2. Koalas have fingerprints.

Chimpanzees and gorillas have human-like fingerprints, and so do koalas. In fact, koala prints, even for professional crime scene investigators, are very close to human fingerprints. No koalas have framed human beings for their crimes yet, but now we know that it’s not impossible.

3. Showers do spark creativity.

Showers are not only good for your health; they are also perfect for your imagination. Researchers gave volunteers imagination problems to solve for a 2012 study published in the journal Psychological Science, followed by a time of rest. Some were assigned challenging tasks during that time, while others did simpler tasks that allowed their minds to wander (just like a shower does). Those performing simpler tasks during the rest duration were more likely to solve the original problems of imagination.

Now, this is the sign to learn what shower thoughts are.

Shower thoughts are ideas that first come into your mind when you are in the shower taking your morning or evening routine. The shower isn’t just a venue for singing. Standing under flowing water, isolated from our cellphones, also enables the minds of people to run wild in which the greatest thoughts happen.

But what are shower thoughts exactly, and why do we have these apparently brief brilliant moments when we shower?

Riding the Brain Train

Though more than a blissful steamy shower and pruning fingers are at work here. Your mind follows suit as your body relaxes, and you enter a repetitive or monotonous process of thought. More precisely, when you go on a kind of autopilot, the prefrontal cortex (where the more abstract thought and planning decreases) relaxes.

The remainder of your brain, known as the default network, switches into gear when your prefrontal cortex is comfortable. As you daydream or let your mind wander, this is the machinery that lights up. Fresh relations and solutions are illuminated with this interaction, the kind you would usually dismiss if you were profoundly focused. A calm head does something positive for the body.

No Rules

This allows you to disassociate other people from those ideas. In other words, thoughts of the shower come because you are more likely to “think beyond the box” or explore more imaginative avenues.

All these variables prime you to think creatively, so no wonder some of us have our best thoughts in the shower. The absolute ease, the calm of your mind, and a little haze. At the very least, it’s fantastic proof that a safe bathing routine is preserved. Besides, you never know. You may just have an epiphany the next time you wash up.

Greatest Shower Thoughts of All Time

1. “Go to bed, you’ll feel better in the morning” is the human version of “Did you turn it off and turn it back on again?”

2. “The sinking of the Titanic must have been a miracle to the lobsters in the kitchen.”

3. “The person who would proofread Hitler’s speeches was a grammar Nazi.”

4. “As a dishwasher, I come home after hours of work in which I get covered in filth, and I take a shower only to realize… I am the final dish.”

5. “Thanks to the Internet, I have probably seen more naked ladies than all of my ancestors combined.”
